And start living for you
Sundays are fun.
A lot of people, including me once upon a time, hated Sundays. Your weekend is ending, you have to go back to work or school or wherever you don’t want to wakeup early to go to and face all your responsibilities. It’s easy to think this way - it’s natural. What’s hard is to turn this mindset around.
I could go for hours on how what a waste of time it is to only live for the weekend but I know that’s a privileged position to be able to have. Circumstance determines a lot, so I’ll phrase it like this - if you have the privilege to turn your career into one that makes you quite literally forget what day of the week it is, then you’ve cracked the code.
You want to live a life that you’re excited to wake up to, not one where you get up and the first thing you think of is how you can’t wait to get back in bed that night. I know that’s even hard to imagine sometimes, especially with the year that has been 2020, but it is totally possible.
Everyone that surrounded me while I was growing up lived for the weekend and that’s how I thought life just was and why would I be any different?
That’s a lot of people’s mindset because it’s natural. Your childhood shapes so much of your life and you spend basically the first half of your adult life unlearning who you thought you were. Even once we get into a mindset that life doesn’t have to be that way, why do we deserve to have that lifestyle when people who are as great as our parents don’t?
It’s a hard pill to swallow and it’s confusing. A lot of emotions come with these realizations but you deserve EVERYTHING you can even dream of and them some. You just have to let yourself have it.
Center your life around gratitude and if you can, figure out how to make money from doing the things you love. And if you just want to keep it as a hobby that provides an escape, that is perfectly beautiful too! Give yourself a life where Sunday is another fun day, just like the rest of your week.
